You are My Heat and Glare unfolds in a series of viscerally provocative, mixed-genre duets for dancers, designers and voice artists. This evening-length work features a unique duet for Bartosik and her longtime collaborator, lighting designer Roderick Murray, who joins her onstage. Inspired by Anne Carson’s poetic essay “The Anthropology of Water”, the work grapples with the rawness of intimacy, asking: What are we made of but hunger and rage? Dancers Joanna Kotze and Marc Mann and singers Gelsey Bell and Dave Ruder complete the extraordinary cast.US Premiere: New York Live Arts, February 26-March 1, 2014.
The creation of You are my heat and glare is made possible, in part, with support from the Jerome Foundation, commissioning funds from New York Live Arts and New Music USA’s Live Music for Dance.
